Equation of the Week [July 8, 2013]

Ohm's law states that the current through a conductor between two points is directly proportional to the potential difference across the two points. Introducing the constant of proportionality, we have the relationship



where  is the current through the conductor in amperes,  is the potential difference in volts, and  is the resistance in ohms. More specifically, Ohm's law states that  is constant, independent of the current.
